Phil Oakey

Phil Oakey is best known for fronting the band The Human League. Born in 1954, he lived in Sheffield and joined The Human League in 1977, when his old friend from school invited him to sing (by invitation on his door!). When the early Human League split up, with Ian and Martyn going on to form Heaven 17, Phil was left with a broken band and a European tour. This mismatched band then went on to create early 80s hits such as "Don't You Want Me," "Love Action," "Mirror Man," "(Keep Feeling) Fascination," "Human," "The Lebanon," and "Louise." In 1984, he teamed up with Giorgio Moroder to create a solo album, including the hit "Together In Electric Dreams" which was used in the soundtrack for the film "Electric Dreams.". ...show less
