is Luke Steele from The Sleepy Jackson and Nick Littlemore from Pnau reaching for the stars. «Walking On A Dream» was one of the biggest hits in 2008 and received double platinum in their homeland Australia. This empire is to strike back.
Which song do you listen to when...
you wake up?
Don Williams - We Should Be Together; or Neil Young - When God Made Me
you drive a car late at night?
Prince - Controversy. Something you can pull up to the lights and feel cool.
Daniel Lanois - Falling At Your Feet. The whole «Shine» album is great, it’s Lanois’ best. It’s very warm. I don’t sleepwalk myself but a friend of mine recently woke up at Kings Cross here in Sydney totally naked!
you make love?
Jimi Hendrix - Voodoo Chile. Something wild that brings out the animal in me. Mitch Mitchell’s drumming helps.
you sit in the subway?
Glen Campbell - Gentle On My Mind
you sit in a plane?
Since the noise on airplanes is very loud I need to listen to some cheesy stuff, like Maroon 5’s «Not Falling Apart» or Daft Punk’s «Something About Us». Recently a friend showed me these new headphones with noise cancellation. I need some of those!
you have to spend a night in a spooky hotel?
Something very uplifting. Something like The Beach Boys’ «Surfer Girl».
you are on the tour bus?
The Thrills - So Much For The City
you camp in the desert?
Anything by The Gunners.
you are love sick?
Carole King - So Far Away. This was the song I listened to with my first true love affair, a girl from Norway. Gotta be honest about that one, eventhough my wife Jodi wouldn’t wanna hear it.
you prepare for a real important date?
Coconut Records - West Coast
you relax on a beach?
Neil Young - Southern Man
you want to disturb you neighbors?
Justice - D.A.N.C.E.
you take a bubble bath?
The Chordettes - Mr. Sandman
you rob a bank?
Rage Against The Machine - Bullet In The Head
you run naked through a cornfield?
John Lennon - Watching The Wheels
you meet your parents?
Ry Cooder - Pig Meat
you visit Shanghai?
«Walking On A Dream» apparently, because we made the video there. But when we were there I heard this pop band from Hongkong called The Twins. They sing in Catonese and Mandarin. They must be one of the few pop groups from China. I’m still trying to get hold of some of their music, but it’s kinda hard to get it here.
