Playlist reviews: the weekend has landed...

Is it too early to begin thinking about the weekend? Never. Whatever you're up to over the next few days, allow us to provide the soundtracks. Eyeballs south to check them out...

Villalobos' Magic After Hours

He is, without a doubt, the greatest underground DJ in music today. Jesse Burkunk agrees. This playlist is all about "long, repetitive, druggy, funky remixes" by Ricardo Villalobos. A masterclass in production and the perfect after hours weekend playlists.

Chris Coco & Ibiza Sonica

We're also very keen on this playlist featuring, "The latest pop, folk and electronic selected by Chris Coco and Ibiza Sonica Radio." Ibiza Sonica is perhaps the coolest radio station in the world, and this playlist is a must for fans of electronic music. Thanks to Patrick Braganti for this one.

Simply Brazil

After this blog post, earlier in the week, you lot have gone world music crazy with some brilliant playlists. But we think this one, dedicated to Brazilian music, from bossa nova to samba classics, is a particularly good weekend mixtape. Guatzup? is the SMP user behind this little cracker.

Next a playlist full of boozy bangers, beer bombs and, er, largery large ones ... It's the act new playlist from agent3613, simply entitled BEER. It's got quite an enigmatic description, this one: "Songs about Beer!" Enough said. Everyone from John Lee Hooker to Jethro Tull sing sauce serenades here.

Long live the mixtape!
