More than just an answer to a trivia question (Who was the opening act at Woodstock?), Richie Havens was a musician's musician.

His varied offerings blended elements of folk, blues, rock, jazz, funk and more.

But back to Woodstock for a moment. Havens set was nearly three hours long and he held the audiences attention throughout. That says something about the man and his music.
