Soulful & Exciting 1964 (50 years ago)

2014 will mark the 50th anniversary of the invasion of the US pop music charts by British guitar bands. Undoubtedly that was a big thing and had major consequences in music business. However, British artists are almost totally absent from my playlist of 1964. To me 1964 was the time when the Beach Boys, Burt Bacharach, Phil Spector and Motown artists were the real thing, and I’ll wait until 1965 for truly soulful & exciting British music.

Top albums of 1964:

The Beach Boys – All Summer Long

Bob Dylan – Another Side of Bob Dylan

Top-5 tracks of 1964:

Four Tops – Baby I Need Your Loving

Lou Johnson – (There’s) Always Something There To Remind Me
